Our Approach
We treat patients with a holistic care approach designed to address valve disease, along with other underlying cardiac conditions, to improve both quality of life and longevity.
The Valve & Structural Heart Center includes clinics dedicated to optimizing medical management, transcatheter intervention, traditional surgical intervention, and minimally invasive surgical options.
Our multidisciplinary team includes dedicated structural interventionalists, structural echocardiographers, and surgeons who are supported by our catheter lab clinical team, research clinicians, and advanced practice providers—all experts in valvular heart disease.
Together, the team diagnoses, evaluates, treats, and manages patients with valvular heart disease who have:
- Advanced heart valve disease
- Coexisting medical conditions
- Limited or multiple treatment options
- Received a diagnosis and need a second opinion
You’ll receive most of your care at Saint Luke’s Hospital of Kansas City, near the Country Club Plaza. However, you may be able to undergo some tests at your nearest Saint Luke’s location.

Each heart valve disease has its own set of symptoms, but they can appear quite similar. There are a variety of tools used to diagnosis valve disorders.
- Echocardiogram
- Transesophageal echocardiogram (TEE)
- Cardiac catheterization
- Cardiac CT
- Cardiac MRI
Diagnoses and Treatments
Once you’ve had your initial exam, our team will discuss your case and determine the best treatment option. We’ll make sure you and your family fully understand your diagnosis and treatment options, so you can make an informed decision.
