On special days, Dr. Bethany Austin brings more than her stethoscope to round on heart failure patients at Saint Luke’s Hospital of Kansas City.

Dr. Austin, cardiologist and medical director of the heart failure program at Saint Luke’s Mid America Heart Institute says her trained therapy dog, Buddy, is making a positive impact on heart failure patients at the hospital.

Dr. Austin talked with KMBC about how the 3-year-old American Shepherd brings a sense of normalcy and comfort to the heart floor at Saint Luke's.
