KCTV: Saint Luke's Doctor Discusses Colorectal Cancer Screening and Awareness
Colorectal cancer rates have declined over the past few decades, driven by more screenings and changing lifestyle-related risk factors. However, this trend is mostly in older adults.
According to the American Cancer Society, those under the age of 50 are experiencing an increase in colorectal cancer diagnoses, but also an increase in colorectal cancer deaths.
This Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, Dr. Sabrina Kidd, a colon and rectal surgeon at Saint Luke's, talked with KCTV about the importance of early detection, new screening guidelines, and colorectal cancer treatment developments.
