1 minuteAccording to the CDC, more than 1 in 7 U.S. adults suffer from chronic kidney disease (CKD), which occurs when the kidneys are damaged and cannot properly filter blood.
Prevention and early detection of the disease are critical, as advanced CKD may lead to kidney failure and other health problems, such as stroke or heart attack.
Dr. Sreelatha Katari, a Saint Luke's Hospital Abdominal Transplant & Multi-Specialty Clinic nephrologist joined the Afternoon Drive to share the causes of chronic kidney disease and the steps people can take to help prevent it.
